Kohlrabi-Sesame Slaw (no mayo)

  • 2 lbs. kohlrabi, hakuri turnips, or radishes
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. tahini
  • 2 Tbsp. neutral oil (such as grapeseed or corn)
  • 1 Tbsp. sesame oil
  • 2 Tbsp. lime juice
  • 1 minced fresh hot chili (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp. minced garlic scapes
  • ½ c. chopped scallions
  • ¼ c. chopped cilantro
  • Toasted sesame seeds


Peel and shred kohlrabi, turnip or radish. Toss with salt and let sit in a colander for 15 minutes or longer; rinse, drain, and pat dry. Whisk together tahini, neutral oil, sesame oil, lime juice, chili, and garlic scapes. Toss with the kohlrabi, scallions and cilantro. Garnish with the toasted sesame seeds.
